My poor Jeep Avenger is only 5 months old and already experiencing technical problems! Yesterday, it attempted to update its software on its own, but BAM! There is a black screen and nothing works. It is extremely frustrating because it is practically brand new. Anyone else driving a Jeep Avenger with a bricked screen following a software update? Help a fellow out.

We have the same problem. Mine seemed to install properly, but I now have the same stuck info box on the display. I even took it back to Jeep, and they said they had no idea what was causing it. Looks like we'll both have to wait for a fix.

Mine's still doing this, but it now happens intermittently. I saw some folks online replacing their screens but I don't want to spend $200+ because of this :(

Anyone here found a solution?

We had the same problem, but it was quickly fixed:
  • Turn car off. If hot from running let motor cool
  • Open bonnet
  • Close doors
  • Detach battery (red clamp)
  • Wait 15 seconds minimum
  • Reattach battery
The Jeep mechanic mentioned a faulty (made in China) chip that should be replaced.
