Key Fobs Stop Working When Charging Jeep Avenger

I’ve had my Jeep Avenger Summit for about a month now, and I’ve noticed a strange issue when trying to unlock the car during an active charging session. This happens with both public charging stations and my home wall box.

When the car is charging (green indicator light flashing), neither of my remotes will unlock it. It’s like the key fobs stop working entirely. I can only unlock the car using the Jeep mobile app or, at a public charger, by pressing the boot release button on the car. At home, I can stop the charge directly from the wall box, and once the charging indicator turns white, the remotes work again.

The user manual says locking/unlocking should be possible during charging, so this has me stumped. The dealership couldn’t replicate the issue and suggested waiting for a potential software update since no error codes were found.

Have you tried disabling the passive entry feature? I know it’s not ideal, but manually unlocking the car with the buttons on the fob might bypass the issue. If that works, it could help the dealership narrow down whether the problem is related to passive entry settings during charging. Hopefully, a software update can fix this.

I once had an issue where my car seemed to be too “focused” on charging and refused to unlock. I swear it was like it had a “no entry” sign up until the battery was fully charged! Thankfully, a software update fixed it, but it definitely felt like my car was giving me the cold shoulder.
